I found this interesting tree along the shore of "Lizard Head Pond" near our camp. I was fascinated by the colors in the trunk and how it stood out against the sea of green trees around it.

Reflection

During my four days camping near Lonesome Lake in the Cirque of the Towers, we had clouds on one day. It was not the day we hiked up to the lake at the base of Lizard Head Peak. The skies were clear and it was very windy when we reached this little lake. As I watched the light on Lizard Head Peak, I noticed it created this warm reflection behind this little pine tree. I waited until the tree was completely surrounded by the warm light reflection of Lizard Head Peak then took this photo. That tough little tree is growing out of a small patch of earth clinging to the side of a rock on the shore of the lake. A calm little moment amidst the windy rush of morning.

Falling Water

This was on a small creek that we crossed just before we got to our campsite in the Cirque of the Towers. This creek had many wonderful little spots like this.

Lonesome Lake Panorama

This is an 8 photo panorama of Lonesome Lake and the Cirque of the Towers. This area is a 15 mile hike (or horseback ride) from the nearest trailhead, and is well work the sore muscles to get here. The conical shaped peak is Pingora Peak (a popular peak to climb). It was once again windy this morning so I used a long exposure to smooth out the water of the lake a bit. This was just before first light hit the peaks.
