Great Fountain Geyser erupts about twice a day from a sinter and pool lined crater. The eruptions are especially stunning at sunset or just after. This was shot shortly after sunset. The colors on the horizon are because it had been very smoky that day from fires in Idaho.
Ice encrusted Soda Butte Creek in Lamar Valley tumbles over a small rock. A long exposure softens the water showing how the water flower over the obstacle.
The roots of an old tree reach into the morning fog along Rabbit Creek. On cool mornings, this thermally fed creek can create a small fog bank in the area. I like the simplicity of the sinuous tree root with the faint silhouette of the trees behind it.
