On Friday, April 17th, the roads from Mammoth Hot Springs to Canyon to Old Faithful and to West Yellowstone opened for the summer season. The skies were crystal clear so I headed over to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone to see if I could catch a rainbow in the spray from the Lower Falls. The rainbow I saw was much more than I had hoped. At times it was a brillant ribbon of color and other times it was a hint of color.
Spray from the thundering Lower Falls refracts and reflects the morning sun creating a beautiful rainbow inside the canyon.
