After a little bit of snow overnight, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone looked like it had been coated in powdered sugar.
A long exposure gives the Lower Falls a soft, silky appearance. The last ice of winter cling tenaciously to the golden walls of the canyon.
On Friday, April 17th, the roads from Mammoth Hot Springs to Canyon to Old Faithful and to West Yellowstone opened for the summer season. The skies were crystal clear so I headed over to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone to see if I could catch a rainbow in the spray from the Lower Falls. The rainbow I saw was much more than I had hoped. At times it was a brillant ribbon of color and other times it was a hint of color.
