Beehive Geyser is spectacular in any light. Beehive erupts about once to twice a day. The eruptions remind me of a firehose. Using an f-stop of f/22 and using the steam to partially block the sun, I was able to create the sunstar.
These "bobby socks" trees are sitting in "Interchange Spring". The white at the base of the stumps is a silica deposit in the tree, killing the tree. I walked the road out to this area early one winter morning. Since this spring sits at the overpass at Old Faithful, I felt that early on a winter morning was the best and safest time to be out there; it can be extremely busy there during the summer.
This lovely hot spring sits off by itself at Black Sand Basin. There is a short boardwalk to this view of the hot spring. Please stay on designated trails and boardwalks in the geyser basins. It not only protects you, but protects these incredibly fragile features.
