Photo opportunities can arise anytime; sometimes unexpectedly. In this case, this American Pine Marten walked up to my front window. I just happened to have my camera sitting on my desk and was able to snap some photos through the front window before it wandered off into the woods surrounding our building. American Pine Martens live in mature coniferous or mixed forests throughout Canada, the Western US, Alaska, the Rocky Mountains, and New England. American Martens are opportunistic predators with their food sources depending on what is available.
In the morning, you may be lucky enough to see a rainbow in the spray of the Lower Falls. I headed up to the Canyon area in hopes of seeing a rainbow at the base of the Lower Falls. I decided to use my telephoto lens to focus on the rainbow with the ice at the base of the falls.
I found this swan along the Firehole River preening. It was fascinating to watch as it rubbed it's beak against its feathers. I was hoping it would stretch its wings, but it didn't. I loved the graceful curve of it's neck as it paused for a moment before continuing to preen.
